FAQs
How long do Festival events last?
Most Festival events last for one hour and are followed by book signings.
How is seating allocated?
Seating is not pre-allocated, and is available on a first come-first served basis. We do not overbook our events so seating will be available for everyone with a ticket. Our stewards will be available to help you.
Are Festival events live-streamed or available to view online?
Our events are best enjoyed in person so unfortunately we do not live-stream them.
Can I buy books by participating authors?
Yes, we actively encourage you to purchase copies of our authors’ books. Featured books will be available for purchase after each event. Many of our authors will stay after their event to sign copies of their books.
Can I bring infants to Festival events?
We strive to create an inclusive and enjoyable environment for all attendees and welcome families including infants. When deciding whether to bring infants to Festival events, we encourage parents and caregivers to consider the comfort and needs of their child and fellow attendees. We ask parents and caregivers to be mindful of their child’s behaviour and when necessary to promptly address the situation to minimise disruption to other attendees.
Can I bring my dog to Festival events?
Unfortunately due to the nature of the venue, dogs are not permitted at Festival events.
Am I allowed to photograph or record Festival events?
Photographs are permitted, however the recording of Festival events is prohibited. Please note that visitors to the Festival may be filmed and/or photographed for future promotional purposes and your consent to be filmed and/or photographed is assumed unless you advise Festival staff otherwise. Filming, photography or recording of adults at risk, children or young people will only happen with consent from the individuals and/or their parents or guardians.
How accessible is the Festival?
The Event Hall is found on the first floor of the Harrow Club. It is accessed via one of two flights of stairs. We have a lift to provide stair free access. Accessible toilets are available on the ground floor. Only assistance dogs are permitted into the Festival venue.
If you plan to attend the Festival and have any additional needs which are not listed above, please contact us at info@nottinghilllitfest.com . If you notify us in advance, we will do all we can to make your visit as easy and stress-free as possible.
How are writers selected for the Festival?
We aim to bring the greatest contemporary authors across all genres to our audiences. We are in contact with publishers, writers and a wide range of advisors to put together as engaging and diverse a programme as possible.
Does the Festival endorse the views voiced by participating authors?
The views and opinions expressed by Festival speakers are their own and do not necessarily represent those of the Festival organisers, suppliers, or sponsors. Speakers are invited in good faith as suitable contributors to lawful free expression and open public questioning.
What happens if there are changes to ticketed events?
Except in the case of cancellation, the Festival operates a no return/refund policy. Event details are correct at the time of publication. We reserve the right to make changes to events if circumstances dictate. Any changes will be updated on our website. In the event of cancellation due to circumstances beyond the control of the Festival, the face value of the ticket will be refundable.
What happens if I am late to an event?
Every effort is made to ensure that events start on time. It may not be possible to admit latecomers to all events, however stewards will try to find a suitable break in the performance.
What should I do if I have a complaint?
We sincerely hope that you have a wonderful time at the Notting Hill Literary Festival. Should you have comments, complaints or suggestions on where we could improve, please do get in touch at info@nottinghilllitfest.com. Thank you, we always appreciate feedback.
Can I get a refund for my ticket?
Refunds will only be issued if the event itself is cancelled.
